Citrix supports Windows Azure

Citrix’s enterprise customers and service providers can now deliver mobile apps and Windows Server-based session desktops from Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud platform with Citrix XenDesktop 7.
With licensing support for remote desktop services on Windows Azure, Citrix can now extend session desktops to the cloud solution to support live session roaming, multiple device types and formats, and rich user-interface media experiences.

Citrix By running XenDesktop 7 on the cloud, enterprises can manage costs, extend capacity on demand, reduce lead time for procuring and configuring hardware, and reduce hardware sizing risk as loads fluctuate.
“Customers are increasingly adopting cloud-hosted session desktops to enable mobile work styles and simplify their operations,” said Bob Schultz, group vice president and general manager of desktops and apps at Citrix. “Leveraging the cloud as a deployment platform will further accelerate these major trends.
“As a leading desktop virtualisation product, XenDesktop 7 enables users to have a high-definition experience across a broad set of user-defined devices.”
Service providers are able to focus on service delivery rather than managing the underlying infrastructure, while cloud-hosted session desktops enable users on any device, to employ more delivery options with data security.
Delivering hosted-session desktops from Windows Azure enables Citrix enterprise customers to use the company’s existing Service Provider reference architectures for XenApp and the Design Guide for Windows Azure.
This creates multi-tenant session desktop services based on Microsoft’s cloud solution.
This allows businesses of all sizes to mobilise Windows apps and Windows Server-based session desktops and deliver them as a cloud service to any device.
