Esri optimises Microsoft technologies
7 January 2013
Wojtek Gawecki explains how Esri is working with Microsoft’s new range of technologies
At Esri we are developing viewers for various platforms including Windows 8, which are lightweight pieces of technology that can be built and deployed without having to do any programming and can help users explore, visualise and share GIS information. One such example is the Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS, which can be deployed in emergency response operations to enable better situational awareness and operational activities. Our solutions also work across various devices including Windows Phone and we have begun testing our Esri Maps for Office solution on Office 2013.
Our customers are already getting excited about Microsoft’s new line of products including Windows 8. They particularly like the ability to create an app for the average user that didn’t have access to ARCGIS before. Personally, I’ve worked with the Windows 8 Preview Release on my own at home and I find it easy to use with a keyboard and mouse – it isn’t just a touchscreen operating system.
