Ferranti launches MECOMS 2.0

Ferranti Computer Systems has launched a 2.0 version of its MECOMS 2012 system for utilities at the CS Week conference in Tampa, Florida.

The utilities software suite is built on Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP platform and adds a complete solution for all utility back-office processes.

It also covers manual, smart and automatic meter reading, billing, credit management, CRM, asset management and performance management.

Dirk Michiels, CEO of Ferranti Computer Systems, said: “With the launch of MECOMS 2012 2.0, utilities are finally offered an option they did not have before. Utilities will be able to do real-time processing of 15-minute interval metering data from millions of smart meters.”

He added: “MECOMS also leverages these new MDM capabilities in other areas, thus enabling new business scenarios, such as time-of-use billing.”

Avanade and Accenture will deploy the system in North America to provide an alternative to the current legacy systems in the market.
